Please can anyone help! - after a long break from machine knitting, I was asked to make a baby shawl. From my box I used 3 ply white acylic (made by BONNIE who are no longer around). It's 10 sided with lace inserts, the main body is finished but, sadly, the wool ran out before the centre could be made and I didn't realise I couldn't get the 3 ply white wool anymore from any supplier.
I am hoping someone might have half a cone of white 3 ply acrylic they might be willing to sell to me.
I'd be grateful for any ideas please! |

Hi Carmelly
I agree it is almost impossible to find 3ply yarn these days.
As you don't need a large amount could you get away with coning up some balls of 3ply baby yarn. Baby yarn is the only sort of 3ply I ever see these days. Sirdar Snuggly comes in 3ply in white and is available quite widely.
I have heard that you can get 3ply in Australia so you might find an internet source if you are desperate. |

Thank you for replying, All makes are sitting on the floor in 3 ply but the differences in colour are enormous how stupid to start a project not knowing whether you could finish it...lesson learnt...hopefully!!..... Yeoman knew my problem and asked me to test a 3 ply but it was like working with string!! Tomorrow...with your confirmation of the difficulties I will try with 4 ply tensioned so tight.
I have made so many of these shawls, but this is the one that surpassed all others...and whoops!! the one that doesn't seem to be.....MERINO seems to be the one at the moment so next time I should try that...or keep my own sheep.......I have a spinning wheel !! but don't know how to use it...keep in touch.....
We live remotely...so the Ole boy has had to earn his keep sourcing these materials ...bless im!! |
